History
From 1993, construction of the stands was started to make it into an all-seated stadium. A new western stand was built with enlarging the playing area. The construction was done by 11 April to host some football matches. For two-tier seating, further renovations were started in stages, and they were completed by 2005. In 2020, $35 million were given to the stadium for remodeling, and the work was finalized by October.
Capacity
In 2010, the seating capacity of this ground was 42,000. Currently, the capacity is reduced to provide more facilities; for football matches, it is decreased to 37,478 and 36,000 people for international cricket. It is expected to have a capacity of 50,000 by 2032 for the Olympics.
Seating Plan
Eleven entrance gates surround the seating stands of the stadium, which is composed of four levels. Levels 2 and 3 are closest to the ground, including first aid services, a parent’s room, and a water bubbler. Pick and drop points for disabled people are also present near these levels. Along with gate 5, members’ seating is reserved. The official site of the stadium also provides a 360 view.
Parking
Gabba traffic area controls the car parks near the stadium. During a visit, you can park free for 2 hours. On event days most parking starts from 8-10$ and provides a limited space, so it’s safe to reach with public transport.
Pitch Report
The pitch at Brisbane Cricket Ground is bouncy and fast, promoting more wickets or sometimes favoring spinners. In 2005, the ground did not approve the idea of a drop-in pitch, saying that it would be difficult to copy the historical pitch and its traits.
